A note on cocharacter sequence of Jordan upper triangular matrix algebra
2016
Let UJn(F) be the Jordan algebra of n × n upper triangular matrices over a field F of characteristic zero. This paper is devoted to the study of polynomial identities satisfied by UJ2(F) and UJ3(F). In particular, the goal is twofold. On one hand, we complete the description of G-graded polynomial identities of UJ2(F), where G is a finite abelian group. On the other hand, we compute the Gelfand–Kirillov dimension of the relatively free algebra of UJ2(F) and we give a bound for the Gelfand–Kirillov dimension of the relatively free algebra of UJ3(F).
Asymptotics for the standard and the Capelli identities
2003
Let {c n (St k )} and {c n (C k )} be the sequences of codimensions of the T-ideals generated by the standard polynomial of degreek and by thek-th Capelli polynomial, respectively. We study the asymptotic behaviour of these two sequences over a fieldF of characteristic zero. For the standard polynomial, among other results, we show that the following asymptotic equalities hold: $$\begin{gathered} c_n \left( {St_{2k} } \right) \simeq c_n \left( {C_{k^2 + 1} } \right) \simeq c_n \left( {M_k \left( F \right)} \right), \hfill \\ c_n \left( {St_{2k + 1} } \right) \simeq c_n \left( {M_{k \times 2k} \left( F \right) \oplus M_{2k \times k} \left( F \right)} \right), \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ wher…
Y-proper graded cocharacters of upper triangular matrices of order m graded by the m-tuple ϕ=(0,0,1,…,m−2)
2015
Abstract Let F be a field of characteristic 0. We consider the algebra UT m ( F ) of upper triangular matrices of order m endowed with an elementary Z m -grading induced by the m-tuple ϕ = ( 0 , 0 , 1 , … , m − 2 ) , then we compute its Y-proper graded cocharacter sequence and we give the explicit formulas for the multiplicities in the case m = 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 .
Y-proper graded cocharacters and codimensions of upper triangular matrices of size 2, 3, 4
2012
Abstract Let F be a field of characteristic 0. We consider the upper triangular matrices with entries in F of size 2, 3 and 4 endowed with the grading induced by that of Vasilovsky. In this paper we give explicit computation for the multiplicities of the Y -proper graded cocharacters and codimensions of these algebras.
Graded Involutions on Upper-triangular Matrix Algebras
2009
Let UTn be the algebra of n × n upper-triangular matrices over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We describe all G-gradings on UTn by a finite abelian group G commuting with an involution (involution gradings).
Ordinary and graded cocharacter of the Jordan algebra of 2x2 upper triangular matrices
2014
Abstract Let F be a field of characteristic zero and U J 2 ( F ) be the Jordan algebra of 2 × 2 upper triangular matrices over F . In this paper we give a complete description of the space of multilinear graded and ordinary identities in the language of Young diagrams through the representation theory of a Young subgroup of S n . For every Z 2 -grading of U J 2 ( F ) we compute the multiplicities in the graded cocharacter sequence and furthermore we compute the ordinary cocharacter.
Polynomial codimension growth of algebras with involutions and superinvolutions
2017
Abstract Let A be an associative algebra over a field F of characteristic zero endowed with a graded involution or a superinvolution ⁎ and let c n ⁎ ( A ) be its sequence of ⁎-codimensions. In [4] , [12] it was proved that if A is finite dimensional such sequence is polynomially bounded if and only if A generates a variety not containing a finite number of ⁎-algebras: the group algebra of Z 2 and a 4-dimensional subalgebra of the 4 × 4 upper triangular matrices with suitable graded involutions or superinvolutions. In this paper we focus our attention on such algebras since they are the only finite dimensional ⁎-algebras, up to T 2 ⁎ -equivalence, generating varieties of almost polynomial gr…
Varieties of almost polynomial growth: classifying their subvarieties
2007
Let G be the infinite dimensional Grassmann algebra over a field F of characteristic zero and UT2 the algebra of 2 x 2 upper triangular matrices over F. The relevance of these algebras in PI-theory relies on the fact that they generate the only two varieties of almost polynomial growth, i.e., they grow exponentially but any proper subvariety grows polynomially. In this paper we completely classify, up to PI-equivalence, the associative algebras A such that A is an element of Var(G) or A is an element of Var(UT2).
Varieties of superalgebras of almost polynomial growth
2011
Abstract Let V gr be a variety of superalgebras and let c n gr ( V gr ) , n = 1 , 2 , … , be its sequence of graded codimensions. Such a sequence is polynomially bounded if and only if V gr does not contain a list of five superalgebras consisting of a commutative superalgebra, the infinite dimensional Grassmann algebra and the algebra of 2 × 2 upper triangular matrices with trivial and natural Z 2 -gradings. In this paper we completely classify all subvarieties of the varieties generated by these five superalgebras, by giving a complete list of finite dimensional generating superalgebras.
The graded identities of upper triangular matrices of size two
2002
AbstractLet UT2 be the algebra of 2×2 upper triangular matrices over a field F. We first classify all possible gradings on UT2 by a group G. It turns out that, up to isomorphism, there is only one non-trivial grading and we study all the graded polynomial identities for such algebra. In case F is of characteristic zero we give a complete description of the space of multilinear graded identities in the language of Young diagrams through the representation theory of the hyperoctahedral group. We finally establish a result concerning the rate of growth of the identities for such algebra by proving that its sequence of graded codimensions has almost polynomial growth.
